Currently,BAYERN 1 is broadcast on DVB-S (upper Bavaria) and DVB-C (lower Bavaria) as well as DAB+ in some regions, courtesy of the Rundfunk-Anstalt Sudtirol. It also makes an appearance on the cable networks, particularly in South Tyrol. The station's weather and traffic news are recorded in the form of music beds.

In addition to its regular ol' news and sports programming, Bayern 1 occasionally throws in some Adult Contemporary or pop music to fill in the gaps. Aside from the oldies, the station also boasts a number of high profile celebrity guest appearances, including the aforementioned Thomas Gottschalk, X Factor contestants like Beyonce, and the likes. The station also has a slew of perks, such as its own magazine and news channel.

It hasn't always been this way though. Before May 2016, a popular Bayern 1 feature was the folk music of the day, which was broadcast on a separate channel in the afternoon. But that was an anachronism, since the station now carries a plethora of pop and rock 'n' roll, as well as opera melodies in the form of BR-Klassik. The radio program was lauded as a hit with the younger set, so much so that it was recently rewarded with a prime time slot. Aside from its primetime slot, the station also features the aforementioned female celebrity guest appearances and a number of nifty news and sports programs.
