you can lose a lot of weight with two-day diet

Health expert, doctor and broadcaster Michael Mosley has explained the benefits of a well-being boost weight-loss diet that sees you fast for two days a week. A new article on Dr Mosley's Fast 800 website explains the 5:2 diet he introduced more than 10 years ago.To get more news about 2 day diet, you can visit herbal-hall.com official website.

Dr Mosley says fasting for two days a week has been found to yield the same health benefits as continuous calorie restriction. Dr Mosley introduced the concept in his BBC documentary "Eat, Fast, and Live Longer" in 2012, as well as his subsequent book "The Fast Diet," co-authored with Mimi Spencer, in 2013.

In the documentary and book, Dr. Mosley explored the potential health benefits of intermittent fasting, drawing from various scientific studies and his personal experiences with fasting. He popularized the 5:2 diet as a simple and flexible approach to intermittent fasting, where individuals eat normally for five days a week and then restrict calorie intake on the remaining two days.

The concept of intermittent fasting itself has roots in various religious and cultural practices throughout history, such as fasting during Ramadan in Islam or Lent in Christianity. However, Dr. Mosley's presentation of the 5:2 diet as a structured yet manageable way to incorporate fasting into modern lifestyles helped bring the idea to a wider audience.

Since its introduction, the 5:2 diet has garnered attention from both the general public and the scientific community, with ongoing research exploring its potential health benefits, including weight loss, improved metabolic health, and longevity.

The 5:2 diet is a form of intermittent fasting that involves consuming 800 calories two days a week (known as fasting days) and eating a balanced diet without calorie counting on the other five days, just sensible portion control and Mediterranean-style meals (known as non-fasting days). On fasting days, the body enters a state of ketosis much like it does on a keto diet, where switching to burning its fat stores for fuel rather than glucose found most readily in carbohydrates.

For fasting days, people generally choose to either eat three small meals or two larger meals - prioritising eating protein, fibre and healthy fats on fasting days to stay properly nourished and energised.
On non-fasting days, you cannot simply eat anything; eating junk food or ultra-processed food will negate many of the benefits of the 5:2 diet.

The 5:2 diet was founded by Dr Michael Mosley when he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and within 12 weeks of following the lifestyle, he had lost nearly 9 kgs (20lbs) and reduced his blood sugars to within a healthy range.

Dr Mosley says the diet reduces blood sugar, may reduce the risk of some cancers, can be more effective for weight loss than continuous calorie restriction, may delay neurological disorders such as dementia, Parkinson’s and strokes and may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease
